This website showcases the multi-user equipment approved under FAPESP Project No. 2022/03124-1. It provides details, usage conditions, and application instructions for the CA-50 Montana Cryostat.
How to access it?
The multi-user equipment was acquired through FAPESP Project No. 2022/03124-1. To request time to use the cryostat, please review the system details provided and carefully read the information below:
Due to the high sensitivity of the cryostat, the equipment will not be loaned or transported to any other laboratory, whether inside or outside GSM/DF/UFSCar;
All users must acknowledge FAPESP Project No. 2022/03124-1 when publishing results obtained using this equipment in papers, dissertations, theses, conference proceedings, or other publications;
To request access to the equipment, please complete this DOCX form and email it to m.motta@ufscar.br or m.motta@df.ufscar.br. Alternatively, you may fill out this GoogleForm. If the project is approved by both the user and the management committees, scheduling will be arranged in coordination with the management committee and the user.

Name of the requested equipment:
Montana Cryostat model CryoAdvance-50 (CA-50)
Manufacturer:
Montana Instruments
Model:
CryoAdvance-50 (CA-50)
Installation site:
Superconductivity and Magnetism Group (GSM) at the Department of Physics (DF) of the São Carlos Campus of the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar), located on Rod. Washington Luís, km 235, Jardim Guanabara, São Carlos – SP.
Description of requested equipment (in English):
The Montana CA-50 cryostat features a chamber with a 50 mm diameter, operating approximately between 3.5 K and 350 K. It offers a nominal stability of 10 mK and a cooling power of 130 mW at 4.2 K. The sample chamber supports electrical and optical experiments and is equipped with side and top optical windows, as well as DC and RF signal inputs. Inside, the system incorporates the “Agile Temperature Sample Mount” (ATSM) in the “Exchange Boss Style”, which allows for independent temperature control of both the cryostat and the sample. As an optical cryostat, it provides ultra-low vibration (nominally <5 nm) and operates using a closed-cycle, cryogen-free system, eliminating the need for cryogenic liquids. Additionally, the system includes a helium gas compressor, a vacuum pump, and control units.
